At present, it is stable in the Windows environment. I work on my Apple computer (Macbook Pro) as well. I want to expand this VGC simulator to include the ability to do multiple gear-up shifts – where the revs increase and decrease during a ratio change (like „shift/shifting”). Horsepower used to determine the horse in three different motors. When a vehicle has an engine that has a specific horse, the engine can be considered a horsepower engine. When a vehicle has more than one engine, such as a gas engine and an electric engine, the total number of horsepower of each engine is multiplied to determine the horsepower of the vehicle. This horsepower is divided by the number of cylinders of the engine to calculate the horsepower per cylinder. Horsepower and engine RPM are related. The number of revolutions per minute is divided by 300 to give the RPM. RPM can be directly used to calculate horsepower because the number of revolutions per minute directly equals the power in the engine in horsepower (pow. in = rev. per min. x 3.819). Horsepower and engine rpm are independent quantities. Engine rpm determines the number of revolutions per minute and the RPM is used to measure the force of the engine. It is important to remember that a horsepower engine has to revolve at a specific rpm to generate horsepower. Revving faster or slower does not generate more or less horsepower. The RPM of a horsepower engine is not related to the horsepower of the engine. The HORSE name was coined by former NASA engineer and Stanford University professor, Robert Tichenor. As well as being a university professor, Tichenor is also an aeronautics engineer with over thirty years of engineering experience. He’s worked on the F-117 stealth fighter for the United States Airforce, on the Space Shuttle, and led a team designing a stealthy, unmanned flying vehicle that would find Russian spy satellites in orbit. While these are all useful skills, they don’t contribute very much to the concept of „Horse”. At a presentation at Stanford University one day, Tichenor overheard people taking bets on the maximum weight of a horse. He got interested, and before long developed a simple mathematical algorithm to predict the horse’s weight. He called this the „Horse” and posted on the university’s e-mail list asking if anyone knew a good name for this thing. Tichenor also used „Horse” in a bet with the well-known sumo wrestler, Tatsumi Fujinami. Fujinami was a short man, and Tichenor claimed the name would be short for „The Sum of Horsepower and Torque”, and that the most powerful horse would weigh a million kilograms (about 2,200 lbs). Fujinami challenged this bet and demanded that Tichenor prove his technique was capable of predicting the weight of a horse. Tichenor responded with two horses, one named „Horse #1” and the other „Horse #2”. When the match started, the two participants were allowed to give one horse an advantage over the other. Fujinami gave advantage to „Horse #1” so that „Horse #1” started off one kilogram lighter. Then he gave advantage to „Horse #2”, meaning that „Horse #2” started off one kilogram heavier.
