What’s new in One Against The Galaxy:

This review covers a lot of ground – or, at least, it’s very huge – so I’m going to focus on three key traits: Story, characters, and implementation. Story can be quite hard to pin down, especially when it comes to something like Star Wars, where it’s so broad in scope that all it takes is a couple points to make it through the entirety of the original trilogy. I try to avoid expanding upon a story as much as possible when writing a review of this sort, however, so in this case, I’m going to report on what worked (and, where applicable, didn’t), and not on any of the twists, the mythology, or the “meaning” of the story.
Characters, on the other hand, is a little easier to pin down, and there are a lot of them. This is reflected in the design of the party, which changes as it travels the galaxy and encounters a number of NPCs. Each character is defined not only by their stats and class, but also a number of traits which take precedent over, well, everything else. And don’t think that making a character “meaner” will make them any more evil. Laughter is often calculated to save your character’s life, or give your characters new options and a few bonus skills. The most important thing to remember is that, to avoid getting bogged down in the numbers, your best bet is to design the party character by character, focusing on what would make them a “good” character in the story you want to write.
And finally, I want to address implementation. The only thing that my experience in reviewing MMOs has in the way of implementation is the QBR3 test, as implemented by Turbine. This is a fine test, and most games do pass it; however, it falls short when talking about one-shots and smaller campaigns, or for games with a greater than minimal investment of time. The QBR3 test focuses on three things:
Party balance and micro-management: how much information can you provide on the fly at any given time? Is it easy to use skills, team up, etc.?
Party size: how well is the game accommodating a greater or smaller group? At what size does it start to become impossible to do what you want?
Implementation time: how long do your cut-scenes take? How
