But honestly I think that I’m going to have to go back and re-read this series – as well as the other volumes – at least twice in order to do justice to the characters and their (frequently un-nerdy) adventures. Hats off to all the other reviewers for helping me avoid total confusion. I love this series, so I was excited when I read about one of the titles coming out in the year 2045, because I’d like to read the early volumes again and I was afraid that in the mid-2000s I would never have time to read any more. It’s pretty amazing to see how the story has progressed, but it feels like reading the re-release as it happens. The characters have basically stayed the same but are better developed in some ways, and even though the story is set so many years in the future it’s actually only moderately changed from the time period and continuity of the original series, and that’s kind of a bummer. Since this was released a couple of years ago, it’s probably advisable to go to Amazon or wherever you got it and check to see if you need a new copy, because I’d hate for you to be shut out. In a way, this was a bittersweet reading experience, because it’s been so long since the last release that the characters have aged and changed, and yet the story is so well-developed that it’s easy to be caught up in it. The old volumes are really worth a re-read, though. I think I might actually have been more enthused about the series if I’d had more previous knowledge, but I was spoiled for the series by reading the other volumes in the series.
