It is not a good practice to put entire javascript into your body. It serves no purpose and very easily (for „n00bs”) can send your whole site over the top. In this case, I would start by moving your javascript into a js file.
On that note, I would recommend using document.write as opposed to creating HTML like you are. This is very bad because of cross-site scripting. You will then have to sanitize it. Here’s how to sanitize (from the article):

I don’t think it’s possible to define the sequence of characters of a string, but you can define an array of characters and iterate over them.
