„A “red” version of the game is already available. All the code was written in Unity, which is used to develop games for different platforms, from mobile to PC. There are about 4000 lines of code and I have tested it for 5 months. I can’t say that the game is perfect, but it feels very good. I had to rewrite most of the code of the game. In the meantime I have also created a video tutorial in Unity which will make life easier for everyone. After a year I also started to create monsters. Their strength, speed, appearance are improving, but I am still in the process of creating them. This is a kinetic visual novel, which means there are no choices to make, no alternate endings, and no puzzles to solve–just an unrequited love story that follows through two years of school. Be sure to read through all of the text before playing to get a full picture of the setting, and feel free to check out my other titles on Patreon if youd like.
The game is set in London, and follows the early college years of Riza, a shy, daydreamer and the protagonist of the story. She is a nursing student, and is constantly fighting off being eaten by monsters, out of the goodness of her heart. Well, so to speak. She does have a crush on Dean Foster, her college tutor, but hes just not into her.
The game itself is a bit time-consuming. You can speed through it in a short amount of time, or take your time in all the character interactions, exploring various aspects of her life, getting to know the others she meets, and making her decisions. As you progress, you’ll unlock new dialogue options for the characters as they’ll continue to change based on your choices. There are also locked dialogue panels to unlock for new scenarios and gameplay, one of which is inside the art gallery (shown below) on the website.
The art is a lovely black and white style, and the background music is smooth jazz, which adds to the ambience of the setting. There is, as always, artwork for an erotic event for those who are curious to see what that’s like (don’t worry, it’s not at all too graphic!).
Game is designed for all gender configurations, although I do recommend either players be female, or the game viewed through the cisgender lens if the gender pronoun preference doesn’t seem to fit your sense of what the character is like.
Some settings/situations could be seen as dated. I did my best to make it as accurate to the time as possible, and hopefully you won’t notice any awkwardness–but if you do, please let me know!
At its core, Dreamcatcher is about Riza’s growth during her time at college, where she becomes more open and confident, and yet also still has her own demons and insecurities.
