The ChatterBox was designed to be a multiple client, single server chat program. The ChatterBox supports text-based chat and IMC (Instant Messenger Communication). Other users who were in the conversation at the time the first chat began will not be sent the user’s message. If an IMC message is sent, it will only be sent to the first user who created the chat and only to that user. Client Programming: The Chat application runs on Microsoft’s.NET Framework. Client applications are run in an active dialog with the host application. The dialog is closed as soon as the user joins a chat or sends a message. These applications are multi-threaded to support asynchronous message sending to the server. The host application is a command-based application. It has two modes of operation: GUI and Command Line. Both modes have the ability to run external applications with their own GUIs. The GUI mode is used for configuring the application, while the Command Line mode can be used for a command-driven application. The command-based interface is very similar to the chat window used in the host application. The GUI mode is also very similar to the host application, but with several minor differences.
